Whenever I’m in town near a certain little beauty haven, I always have to pop in and depending on how much time I’ve got, I do some colour swatches!! I’d been reading about the new Ilia Color Block Lipsticks and really wanted to give them a go, so I went and swatched..
I’ve always loved Ilia as a brand and have a good few of their lipsticks in my kit, they’ve got a great range of shades. They were one of the first clean brands to deliver cool, fashionable and bold colours that I was excited to get in my kit. They proved that organic and natural didn’t have to mean brown and shimmery lipsticks!! I like Ilia because they have something for everyone – the lip conditioners for those who want just a hint of colour, and then the lipsticks and the crayons offer different textures too. This new Color Block formulation has apparently four times as much pigment than any of the other lip products. This is exciting to hear as a make-up artist! So here they are….
You can see the pigment is great. The texture seems to vary a little between colours, with some having a little more sheen. When I removed this from my arm, I had a little staining for the rest of the day so good longevity!
I bought Rococco for myself and I’ve been wearing it.. I often buy them for me and then they just end up in the kit or bottom of my make-up bag. However I like this one – the colour is enough to brighten but not too much to make me feel self conscious – I always encourage other people to wear bright colours but then don’t do it myself!! I’ve just been applying one layer which I work into my lips so it is more like a stain, and it lasts very well; I surprised myself at the hairdressers the other day when I looked in the mirror after forgetting I had it on!! It doesn’t dry my lips at all, it feels very comfortable and just glides on. It is very creamy and smooth. I think I’ll get some for my kit…
