Eyebrows are funny old things. They can really change a face – they can define an eye and add youth, they can also lay heavy and pull down a face, even making it appear angry. I wasn’t particularly blessed in the brow department, yes I’ve got them but they’re quite fair and sparse. I often get brow envy on jobs! I had mine microbladed a couple of years ago maybe now (I would definitely research people well before doing something like that – drop me a line if you’d like my recommendation.) it’s still there a bit, but I need something in my brows for sure to make me feel together. I often use a pencil for speed – I used the Burt’s Bees one right down to a stub so must have liked it, and have had the Benecos too. I’ve recently been using an eyebrow kit from Miild make-up which is nice, it doubles up as an eyeshadow palette too.
In my kit I’ve got Ecobrow gels which I like a lot, however I felt I needed a bit more variety in my kit. I’d heard good things about the new Inika eyebrow products , I love their mascaras so was keen to give the brow range a go too.. I was very kindly given these to try..
Brow Define Palette
This comes in 2 colours – Chestnut which is the darker option and Amber which is lighter and on the warmer side. Both have two shades so you can customise your shade by mixing or add dimension by using both. I’ve been using Amber on me, Chestnut is too dark although I could wear it for a dramatic look. The palette includes a wax which you can use before or after your colour. The little brushes are good for on the go, but I tend to use a longer brush at home – I can see the little ones getting lost quite easily!! I find the colour lasts well. I’ve used on clients as well as me and like the application.
Ingredients – Powder: Mica, Zinc Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Ultramarines (CI 77007).
Wax: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Silica, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).
Packaging – they do come in quite a bulky plastic pallete which I’m not so keen on, that said it has a good sized mirror so handy in a make-up bag. Recycle through L’Occitane and Terracycle. Recyclable cardboard outer packaging.
Brow Perfector
Brow mascaras are becoming more and more popular these days, they are a quick way to add depth and definition to a brow. This one has bamboo fibres to help add volume to brows. I really like this – it gets me slightly closer to those fuller brushed up brows we’re so used to seeing now! It comes in 3 colours. I’ve been using Birch on me. I’ve used this on its own and its enough to add gentle definition, I also use it conjunction with the palette for a stronger look.
The brush has two different sides to help shape brows – I find lots of product can come out so clean the brush a little before application. As I said I’ve got quite fine brows, I’m not quite sure how they would fare on thicker brows – they would give colour but not sure on the hold – will play more and update..
