Concealer 101 part 2

I’ve had visions of doing an organic and natural concealer 101 for ages, back in February last year I started with the Hynt Concealer – somehow a year has passed but here is another instalment.. I’m still loving the Hynt by the way but these are a few more of the ones I’ve got in my kit at the moment. Concealer is such an important part of my kit, sometimes I skip foundation and just do all the work with a concealer..

First up is Ere Perez Arnica Concealer £23

2023 Update here

This has good coverage with a matt finish – this is one of the very few natural concealers to have no coconut oil. This makes is great for anyone who is a bit more acne prone and sensitive to coconut oil and other derivatives. It also contains arnica which is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory so good for blemishes. It works really well under eyes, helping to conceal darkness – the shade Chai is quite yellow so I find it helps purple shadows … Gentle powder for more longevity.

There are six colours – I’ve only got three in my kit which I mix..

I would like more.. here is swatch from Ere Perez but I will update with my own when I can..

Ingredients – Diisopropyl sebacate, mica, candelilla (euphorbia cerifera) wax, carnauba (copernicia cerifera) wax, cocoa (theobroma cacao) seed butter, c12-15 alkyl benzoate, sunflower (helianthus annuus) seed oil, arnica (arnica montana) flower extract, tocopherol (vitamin E), stearalkonium hectorite, ascorbyl palmitate, tocopheryl acetate, propylene carbonate. May contain +/- iron oxides, ci77891.

These are Vegan.

Packaging – the concealers come in a little glass pot and plastic lid, both recyclable. The outer package is a paper/card box.

Absolution Le Multi Correcteur £24

These are lovely textures that just disappear into the skin, they are great for evening out the skin tone, correcting and covering minor things, they make skin look like healthy skin. I use them after foundation but also on their own like a foundation for a really fresh natural finish. They are a light creamy texture that come in little tubes, I like to apply with a brush but fingers would work well too.

There are now 6 colours.

I love the apricot – number 10 or the ‘beautifying shade’ for under the eyes. They contain Chlorella which is a micro-algae that strengthens the structure of capillaries, helping to combat redness and dark circles. You can also use this tone to brighten the complexion.

Update – New colours! 04 and 05 were launched in May 2019

They are Vegan.

The Organic Pharmacy Luminous perfecting concealer £19

These are a hydrating formula with hyaluronic acid so they feel really comfortable on the skin. I like to use it under my eyes to brighten them – with my dark circles I tend to use them over a fuller coverage concealer, however if you’re not as dark under eyes then are great on their own. They are nice to brighten around areas like the nose etc… they’ll help to lift the complexion. There are just two colours at the moment. The concealers come in a glass tube with a wand for application, I tend to pop a little bit on the back of my hand and then use my fingers to apply.

Ingredients – Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Squalane, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Glycerin, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride , Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Silica, Sodium Lactate , Alcohol, Aqua (Water) , Sucrose Distearate, Benzyl Alcohol, Magnesium Sulphate, Parfum (Fragrance), Polyglyceryl-3 Ricinoleate, Euphrasia Officinalis Extract, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sorbic Acid, Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool, Citral , D-Limonen, Eugenol, +/- Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Iron Oxides (CI77491, CI77492),

Packaging – The concealers come in a glass tube – just pop the empty tube into your recycling when finished (rinsed of product). The lid is made from plastic but is a green PE, which is a plastic obtained from renewable sources from sugar cane. Although it is not biodegradable, it is much more sustainable than petrochemical derived plastic and can be recycled. The outer packaging is made from tree-free paper (hemp, bamboo and bagasse fibres) with vegetable ink.

Hiro Space Balm Concealers and Correctors £24.95

These feel very lightweight but give more coverage than what you think – they do a great job of covering redness and evening out the skintone. They will cover little blemishes but stubborn spots might need a little more help. They feel hydrating on the skin and blend in really nicely, giving skin a helping hand on lots of fronts.

There are six concealer shades but the mineral pigments will self-adjust to skintone so there is a little bit of leeway. I can wear 04 and I can wear 08.

There are also two correctors which are the same formulation. Thora is a golden yellow and for under eye circles with a purple and Cora is a peachy salmon for those with blue shadows – this is what I use and works well for me. You can also use it to brighten any other darker areas or pigmentation. When colour correcting make sure you just use on the area that actually needs it.

Use these under your foundation or concealer or try mixing them in. Thora is great mixed into a foundation if the foundation is a little pink for you (like so many are!!)

Ingredients – Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter ) Fruit Oil*, Tocopherol, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491 (Iron Oxide Red), CI 77499 (Iron Oxide Black), CI 77492 (Iron Oxide Yellow)

* Organic
Made in the USA

Vegan.

Packaging – little plastic compacts with cute little mirrors inside, these are recyclable but they are soon to be available in a refillable pallete.

I am totally aware that these colours are not inclusive to all skin tones – I’ve got some more reviews to write up and also I’m trying some different price points as I know these are all £20+

So more to come…
