For the last few weeks I’ve been wearing Inika Long Lash mascara and it’s safe to say I love it. Natural mascara is always really tricky to do well – it’s hard to compete with the more conventional brands who maybe use some of the ingredients we’re trying to avoid. It is those said ingredients such as plastics and fillers, that help to thicken and lengthen lashes (superficially) and make the mascara stay put, ah, there’s the rub..
Fortunately natural mascara is getting way better, this new one by Inika is testament to that. After just one coat of the Inika Long Lash mascara, my lashes do look longer.. a second coat makes them thicker too. You can build it up to a great intensity – I would say to keep layering while each coat is still wet, to avoid lashes clumping together. I’ve tried a lot over the years and I think this is probably one of the few that has made a big difference to my lashes.
The application wand is an important part of a mascara although I’m not into fancy ones. I’m not a fan of big wands either – these tend to be used for thickening mascaras as they can deposit more product. I still like to be able to actually brush lashes through, rather than just coating them all in one hit. I like the wand in this new mascara, it allows good application while getting good separation between each lash too.
The longevity has been great, I’ve not noticed any smudges under my eyes, and when I wash my face at night it’s still there to be removed; often I like a mascara but by the end of the day, there isn’t much left on my lashes.
I’ve been wearing black, which is a good strong black with intense pigment from the first coat. It does come in a brown as well, if you’d like a softer look.
I will say the more I’m using it, the more the brush gets a little clogged with product when you open it, but not a problem if you gently clean it by scraping it across the top of the tube. It gets pushed back in with the brush so no wastage.
